Profile

Education and professional career: Lilia Diamantopoulou is Professor of Modern Greek Studies at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Previously, she was a university assistant at the Institute for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Vienna (2012–2018). She is also the director of the project “Forgery, Deception, Mystification in Modern Greek Literature,” which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the “Small Subjects – Great Potential” program. She is the author of the books *Greek Visual Poetry: From Antiquity to the Present* (Series: Studies in the History of Southeast Europe 18, Peter Lang, 2016) and *Carl Jakob Iken as a Pioneer of Modern Greek Studies* (Series: Cultures and Practices of Knowledge in History 3, De Gruyter, 2019), as well as co-editor of the edited volumes *Deceived Science: A Genius Deceives Europe* (V&R, 2017) and *Mirrors and Mirroring*. From Antiquity to the Early Modern Period (Bloomsbury Academic, 2019).

Research interests:
Fake news and forgeries, “deceived science,” forms of translation and adaptation (focus: comics), virtual reality in Modern Greek studies, visual and concrete poetry, visualization of knowledge in tables, maps, infograms, and diagrams.
