As part of his doctoral project, our fresh PhD graduate Mirko De Tomassi has recently published an online collection for storing and viewing 3D models of ancient Maya funerary elements.
The collection is hosted on Discover, LMU’s open access platform dedicated to the curation and presentation of digital research data and was created in collaboration with members of the LMU Library (special thanks to Andreas Frech and Vanessa Finger). While aimed at fostering scientific dissemination and collaboration, the collection also addresses ethical concerns about the treatment of digital replicas of burials and human remains.
