Munich, Germany – September 11, 2025 – The final day of the DAAD- and LMU Munich-funded program “International Training in Digital Photogrammetry in Cultural Heritage” was marked by inspiring presentations and experience reflections.
Participants from the Universities of Alexandria and Fayoum (Egypt) and Amman (Jordan), guided by Prof. Nicola Lercari and his team, showcased the outcomes of their training by presenting the 3D models they had created through the training. Alongside the technical results, the group shared their experiences, highlighting both the practical skills gained and the broader significance of applying digital tools in cultural heritage preservation.
Representatives from each participating university also delivered short remarks, expressing their gratitude for the opportunity made possible through the support of the DAAD and LMU Munich. In a concluding gesture, specialized photogrammetry equipment funded by the DAAD was formally handed over to the institutions. This will enable the participants to continue their work within their local communities, fostering sustainable capacities for documenting and safeguarding cultural heritage.
The closing day not only celebrated the achievements of the program but also underlined the enduring impact of international collaboration, ensuring that the knowledge and tools shared in Munich will resonate far beyond the walls of the training laboratory and field borders.
