LMU doctoral researcher Mina Yacoub is using advanced Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) technology to create detailed 3D records of two approximately 2,600-year-old tombs in Egypt's Bahariya Oasis.
As part of his ongoing PhD fieldwork in Egypt, Mina Yacoub, a doctoral researcher at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Munich), is digitally documenting two ancient Egyptian tombs dating back approximately 2,600 years at the Qasr Salim necropolis in Bahariya Oasis.
Using advanced Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS) technology, Yacoub aims to produce highly detailed 3D records of the tombs, which have suffered progressive deterioration over time.
His research contributes to the digital preservation of Egypt’s cultural heritage, safeguarding invaluable archaeological information for future generations and supporting future conservation efforts.
