Munich, Germany – March 23, 2026 — As part of the 2026 Winter School on Museum Collections Digitization and Dissemination Methods, students and researchers from the Institute for Digital Cultural Heritage Studies conducted a hands-on 3D scanning session at the State Museum of Egyptian Art.
Led by Dr. Anastasia Eleftheriadou and supported by Ph.D. candidate Mina Yacoub, 16 international students used the Artec Leo scanner to digitize key artifacts, including a faience ushabti, a 26th Dynasty black granite base, and a limestone statue of the god Apis.
This session marked the first time students actively carried out on-site scanning in the museum’s galleries—transforming ancient objects into high-quality digital models in real time, while gaining valuable practical experience in advanced heritage documentation techniques.
Special thanks to the State Museum of Egyptian Art for their continued collaboration, and to Dr. Mélanie Flossmann-Schütze for her support.
