We are excited to announce the launch of a new interdisciplinary lecture series at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU), the Digital Cultural Heritage Colloquium.
Beginning Thursday, 13 November 2025, the colloquium will convene weekly on Thursdays at 18:00 c.t. in Lecture Hall A119 located in the Main Building of LMU (Geschwister-Scholl-Platz 1).
The Digital Cultural Heritage Colloquium (WiSe 2025–26) will introduce students and participants to some of the key debates and practices where heritage studies, digital technology, and computational methods intersect. As we embark on a new term of week-to-week guest lectures, the colloquium aims to introduce the “Digital Turn” in heritage studies and the possibilities and complications created by the digital environment.
Through lectures and conversations with international scholars, LMU researchers, and heritage practitioners, the Digital Cultural Heritage Colloquium will examine how particular digital methods (e.g., photogrammetry, LiDAR, GIS, 3D visualization, data science) are transforming how cultural heritage is documented, analyzed, curated, and disseminated.
