Students of the Master’s program Digital Cultural Heritage have different options to study or work abroad within the framework of different funding schemes supporting the mobility of students. Planning a mobility period and applying for it usually needs at least half a year of planning in advance. Therefore, we recommend to plan a mobility period in the second or third semester. You may discuss with the teaching staff and your program coordinator, which universities best fit your plans. Also, for the recognition and crediting of courses taken during your mobility period, please discuss your individual study program and learning agreements (where applicable) with your program coordinator. This is fundamental in order to ensure that your achievements can be recognized for you degree program at LMU.
ERASMUS+ is the most important European mobility program, funded by the European Union, but also including partner countries beyond the EU. The Digital Cultural Heritage Studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München are about to establish new exchange relationships to universities in Italy, Sweden, Belgium, and Cyprus within the framework of ERASMUS+. But, students might as well apply for ERASMUS+ places offered by other institutions within the Faculty for the Study of Cultures (Fakultät für Kulturwissenschaften). In total, the Faculty has agreements with universities in 16 countries.
Applications for ERASMUS+ mobility periods need to be submitted in January for the complete following study year (winter term and summer term). E.g., if you want to study abroad in the winter term 2028-2929 or the summer term 2029, you have to submit your application in January 2028.
For more information on procedures and applications, please cosult the ERASMUS+ office at the Faculty for the Study of Cultures.
Beyond the scope of the ERASMUS+ program, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität has a network of 150 partner universities all over the world. LMUexchange allows students to spend one semester or a complete study year at one of the partner universities. Mobility via LMUexchange is usually not limited to specific disciplines, so you may apply for a place at any of the partner universities (with few exceptions). Moreover, you are usually exempt from any tuition fees. Application deadlines differ depending on each country, and applications are dealt with by the Office for International Affairs at LMU.
LMUexchange
LMU is also a partner of the Venice International University located on the island of San Servolo. This allows students to apply for studying a semester within the Globalization program of VIU. Applications can be filed two times a year and, students can be supported with ERASMUS+ funds.
