PONS – Humanities and Cultural Studies
The PONS network enables you to change your place of study within Germany during your degree program and is comparable to Erasmus partnerships. A stay at another university in Germany serves to broaden your academic and personal horizons, develop subject-specific focuses, and build networks within the respective academic community in Germany. PONS – Humanities and Cultural Studies is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation.
How does PONS work?
- Credits earned at the host university are recognized via a Learning Agreement: coursework completed at the host institution is accepted by the home institute.
- In principle, PONS is open to all BA and MA students of archaeological disciplines at the participating institutes. The websites of the individual institutes provide an initial overview of their orientation, research focuses, and teaching offerings. If, after this initial information, you are interested in a transfer within the PONS program, please contact the staff member responsible for you at your home institute at an early stage. They will assist you with the next steps and establish contact with the institutes suitable for a transfer.
- Change of place of study for 1–2 semesters (possible in BA and MA programs)
- Principle: no loss of credits or time due to the change of institution
- Leave of absence from the home university, guest student status at the host university
- No loss of BAföG funding
- One-time scholarship of €250 (“relocation allowance”)
